Q: Honda S2000?
I am thinking about getting a Honda S2000 probably around year 2000-2003 because that'll be the most I can afford. What are some strong points and some weak points about it. Like maintenance or handling, or power, or gas, or anything like that. Yeah the space is fine because I took out my backseats in my civic and built a plexiglass speaker wall so I can only hold two people now anyway. my civic has a b18c1 w/ header, exhaust, intake manifold, cai, and stage 2 clutch. How do you think it would do against an s2k? I want something with around the same amount of power or more so that's why. If you don't have a clue don't worry about it but thanks so far.

A: PRO: -Nice looking car -Not that many people have it -puts out wonderful performance for a an NA 4-banger -wonder suspension out the door -Girls dig it (Only if u don't put the top down when they have their hair all done and nice....trust me...haha) -PERSONALLY, I like how all the climate controls are placed around the steering wheel, very easy to navigate around while you're driving. -This car gives you options, hard top or soft top depending on season. -shifting is very precise compard to most cars. -Can't beat the sound of hitting VTEC Con: -To be honest, its a little pricey for a convertible...I mean it still is a $34K car...not cheap. -It's a nervous ride when it rains really hard and you don't have the proper tires on...my advice...be super careful and just be wary about weather changes, the stock tires that come with your brand new S2k don't have the capacity to handle super duper hard rain. Lots of ppl have lost their S2k"s for this reason. -It sucks when some of my friends need a ride home, but I can only take one passenger...so I have to take multiple trips at times...not a big deal if you don't have this problem, but i have lots of friends with no cars...poor college students...haha. -thieves want to steal your seats....and than key your car after they steal it cause its such a nice car...not kewl.

Q: Can a Honda S2000 with proper snow tires survive Canada's winter?
I'm planning to buy a Honda S2000, but i live in Markham, Ontario, im really concerned if i can drive it in the winter cause i live alone so i wont buy another for winter.

A: It definitely isn't the ideal winter transportation but some nice fat snow tires....some sand bags or other heavy items in the trunk.... and as said...keeping the rpms low should go a long way to helping you drive on paved snowy roads. On unpaved roads though..with more than 3 inches or so of snow.....your going to have a clearance problem as those cars sit very low to the ground. If you can afford an S2000, you should probably go ahead and buy yourself a nice cheap winter beater for the snowfalls.

Q: How many miles will a Honda S2000 run before it starts to have problems?
I'm looking to buy a S2000. Now, I'm well aware of Honda's legendary reliability. The DOHC VTEC's will damn close to never break down. Still, I wanted to find out the S2000's reliability as oppsed to the VTEC's, especially when the S2K's engine tends to rev a bit higher . I've seen them go for sale with 100K+ miles, so I'm assuming they do get there. But how many miles does a S2000 run before encountering a major engine or component problem? How reliable are they? And is it a good choice for a used car? Thanks guys! And let me know if anybody is looking to sell their S2K!

A: If you're single or have a secondary car, the S2000 is probably the best bang for the buck for a 2 door convertible sports car. I am a big domestic fan but I'm not ignorant; wanted a Trans Am WS6 for the longest time but the S2000 won me over. Honda put alot of quality into making this car. It may rev to 9000rm(2000-2002) but it was built to rev that high. The type R Integra has a similar redline and is still very reliable. If you'll notice, the S2K seems to hold it's value pretty well which seems to tell you they aren't junk. A car with 50k doesn't necessarily mean it was abused. It's actually most likely quite the contrary. Someone who had the money to spend that much on the car when it was new probably just used it as a weekend car and garaged it in bad weather being that it's a rear drive convertible that isn't so good to drive in bad weather. Let's face it, it's just a toy, no more than that. There is no practical reason to own one. You can't even put a decent amount of luggage in the trunk. But for a toy, it's a very well built toy that is relatively simple as far as layout. The best way to tell if it was hot rodded and abused is not so much the mileage, but whether or not it was modified. If it's pretty much bone stock with 50k on it, chances are, it was just driven and babied on a rainy day. After 100k, things will be more prone to wear out on it that you will have to replace regardless of how hard it's driven. I would look for a used 2000-2002 S2k with 40-60k on it. It's already depreciated in value and will bring you just as much joy as buying a newer one as not too much as changed as say an 03' and up. They are a reliable car and the engine and transmission is pretty solid on them, even when driven somewhat hard. You will get plenty of years of reliable, fun transportation without the maintenance woes of a porsche boxster or BMW Z3. I'd say go for it and shop carefully until you find the right price on one. They're out there and are fairly common to pick up. Most people sell them not because they have problems, but because they have a family, or they need something more practical for daily use.

Q: Can you get the new seats for Honda S2000?
My fella has a lovely Honda S2000 but would like to get the new style seats with no mesh in the head rest and put them in this one..a 04 reg. does anyone know if this can be done and where we could buy the seats? The interior is blue.

A: Ebay. But I don't think it's gonna be too easy. Check this.... http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=399015&st=0&#entry7952350 no mesh starts in 06.

Q: recommend me a tyre for a Honda S2000 for the UK?
I am looking for tyres for my Honda S2000. I drive mainly on motorways and do high mileage. I need a tyre that will be good all year round (ie in the wet) and realise decent wear rates (no good if they are supurb but for wear out in 10K miles!!)

A: the ones honda specify, they designed the car, they selected the best tyres for the car.

Q: Is stock 2004 honda s2000 allowed to participate in racing without aftermarket roll cage?
Convertables usually ane not allowed for car clubs driving events/racing. Honda s 2000 has sort of a roll bar behind each seat. So, is it allowed in such events?

A: Solo II, parking lots around the cones, Yes Solo I, racetracks around cones, NO Track days on race tracks, NO SCCA member since 1978

Q: How does the Honda S2000 handle in the winter?
I am looking at getting an S2000 but Im not sure if I should before the winter. How does it handle in the snow?

A: I would have to agree with wizard81 on this. I own an S2000, it's an awesome car and you won't regret buying it. BUT it does not handle well on snow or rain, especially on stock tires. Those were specifically made to handle on the local dry road courses. Even in rain, my tires would still break loose going straight! It's the most fun you can have in a roadster 3/4 seasons! I'd still buy it.

Q: Why has the Honda S2000 not gone through a new body style?
ever since the S2000 came out in 2000, it's pretty much looked the same, just minor changes here and there. just wondering because other cars go through a new body style every four years or so.

A: because it's damn beautiful as it is. It's gotten a little more agressive and refined looks, but it i just a beautiful. I couln't think of a low priced convertable two seater that is as beautiful, and that performs as well.

Q: How do I do a transmission flush on my Honda S2000?
My S2000 recently went through a lot deep puddles because of all the rain we have had in the past few days. This morning when I woke up the "check engine" light was on, and my friend said it was because I need a transmission flush. Does anybody know how I would perform one of these on my car?

A: yes i do, but it is more likely you got some sensors wet and they need to dry out or be replaced it is pretty hard to get water in a tranny or an engine unless it went under the water,to change the fluid you can unbolt the tranny bolts and drop the pan or you can get a pump to suck out the fluid

Q: Is 14000 a good price for a 2002 Honda s2000 black with 72000k and clean title?
Its sooo hard to find the s2000 in good condition but this guy is asking for 14000 for an 2002 stock black with 72000k is this a good investment for the money guys? im gonna buy it cash

A: According to Kelley Blue Book, a private sale value for this car is: in Excellent Condition: $17,650 in Good Condition: $16,550 in Fair Condition: $15,100 So probably a good value.

Q: Where can I find a Honda S2000 Transformer at a good price and which one is better?
I have a $70 budget and my boyfriend wants a Honda S200 Transformer, however, there are different kinds and I don't know which type is better. Where may I buy this "collectible item" and which one should I buy. I have seen at least three different types so far. Thank you so much for your assistance. Sincerely, Lennon<3

A: Ebay. I would go for the diecast imports from Japan, not the plastic version we get here. Put in as your search one of the following: Transformers Windcharger Transformers Binaltech Overdrive Transformers Decepticharge The Binaltech in the Japanese kind.

Q: How much does it cost to insure a Honda S2000?
I want someone who actually owns or has owned this car to give an answer. I dont want someone to go to progressive and tell me 800 a month because thats BS.

A: Im a 19 year old guy with a decent driving record and good grades and i drop about 300 a month for full coverage under allstate and thats under my parents name. on my own they said it would be around 350 a month

Q: How can I tune my Honda S2000 for drag in NFS Pro Street?

A: google it

Q: Does Honda S2000 have LSD, and what is the different about AP1 and AP2?
I have 2001 S2000 and was wondering if I needed to buy LSD for my car. I also have 350z and it has the DVC system where I can turn on or off and I love it. But what about my s2000? What can I do to fix this problem?

A: Try asking the question on a honda forum..

Q: I planning to get a 2007 Honda S2000 with love miles(under 10K) are they reliable?
I planning to get a 2007 S2k with less than 10Kmiles. I was wondering are they reliable. What should i look out for and what are your opinons on this car thanks!

A: The S2000 Model Year 06 and MY07 are identical except for 2 new colors for 07. They did not change much in the past 8 years. The Honda is arguably THE most reliable car company. CNN says that the S2000 ranks as one of the most reliable sportscars (link below) There aren't too many things you can look out for for such low miles, but at the very least would be 1 or 2 fluid changes (oil, tranny, differential) lots of performance modifications (exhaust, intake, etc) or if it had any in the past. This may show that the car was driven hard. Although the S2k was built to be driven, this wouldn't hurt to know. besides that, you can't go wrong with an S2k with less than 10k miles! I am biased because I own an S2000. Mine is a 2002 with 115,000 miles. I had it dyno tested at 103,000 miles and it has the same power output as it did when new. So far, motor reliability is not an issue, nor is anything else with the roadster. The S2000, NSX, insight are all installed in Japan, mostly by hand (link below) Here's more info that would help you feel at ease about the quality of the S2000 in any year. (ESPECIALLY with less than 10k "love" miles :) - From wikipedia: * The S2000 was on Car and Driver's Ten Best list for 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004. * The S2000 was the highest-ranked model in the J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study "Premium Sports Car" class for 2004 and 2006, and has consistently held one of the top three positions. * The S2000 ranked number #1 in the BBC Top Gear survey in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
