Q: How much does the Mazda dealer charge for a transmission oil and filter change?
I have a 2007 Mazda 6. Has anyone went to the dealer before for a transmission oil and filter change with their Mazda before? I really need to change mine already because the fluid is brown already! So if you have any idea of how much day will charge for the whole thing. Thanks you help would be appreciated!

A: I had my transmission replaced, cost me $3,000.00 and oil and filter is about $15.00. Oh but I don't have a Mazda.

Q: I have a 96 mazda 626. Does the stop leak remedies work for the radiator?
I have a 96 mazda 626. The radiator seems to be leaking around the plastic tank. I was wondering whats the best way to fix it other than replacing it or having it repaired. Does any of those stop leak remedies work? like the ones from the part store.

A: Personally I dont like additives, they always seem to make the radiator block, Try sanding the affected area with sand paper then apply fibre glass and resin. It worked a treat for me!

Q: How do you compare Mazda 3 sedan to civic or corolla?
Hi, It's really hard for me to choose from these three cars: mazda 3, civic or corolla. I like the look of mazda 3 way better than the others, it's more sporty. But I'm not sure whether Mazda has a reputation as good as Honda and Toyota. Anyone has expericnce with Mazada3? Please help me compare! Thank you.

A: My bias is the Mazda3. I own a Mazda and I would say that I am satisfied with the base product. I am pleased about the upgrades and I would say that I continue to be happy about my purchase, even now 3 years later. I will attempt to present choices that will greatly assist an informed decision. Look at the base price and see what you get for the money. If you look close enough their are differences. Then separately review the option packages an look at the cost for what you would like on the car. You should have 2 columns, the base vehicle with it's standard features and the options package, per vehicle. For clarity's sake this would be the 3, Corolla and the Honda Civic. Rank them from lowest $ amount to highest. Then drive them and see for yourself what fits your personality and your tunes. If it is a stick make sure it responds as fast as you think it should when merging on a freeway. The Mazda3 is a hit, by any Car Magazine, it is rare that you will find the 3 be trashed because it is a Mazda. Mazda is the 5th largest Japanese car manufacture and continues to have a brand strategy that has responsive engines, light structure (gram strategy) and handling that brings a smile to your face. To say Mazda is as good as a brand is a tricky question. Mazda makes the best 2 seater the Mazda RX5 in the business, hands down, from 1989 to the present. Mazda has sold over 750,000 roadsters. Make no mistake this is Mazda's halo car. Relatedly, Mazda is a leader in research and development with the rotary engine. This is a unique charachter that Mazda brings delivers to it's customers. Yester years technology brought forward with todays solutions that were at onetime stubborn, now the Wankel is charmingly peculiar. They have the Mazda 3 which is a compact super car with it's wide assortment of engine displacements, the same DNA that is baked into all of their product line, is in the bloodline with the 3 and it shows. To say which one iCar Company is better than the other is subjective; but look at Mazda's record over the last 8 years in the aforementioned vehicles and you wll gain an objective understanding that Mazda Motor Car is on par with it's nearest competitors and exceeds them in the following areas: driving dynamics, they call this Kansei engineering, fuel efficiencies (depending on the country) Mazda has a 1.6 litre Common Rail Diesel that produces 46 miles to the gallon in mixed driving use. And finally, the MazdaSpeed series is a beast by anyone's standard. If you want something dfferent, reliable, fun and worth the purchase. I would suggest Mazda.

Q: What is the best year of used Mazda Miata?
I want to buy a used Mazda Miata and it seems the 1997's and 2000's are more wanted than the 1999's. I know they didn't make a 1998. And all models before 1997 have a lower reliability rating so I want to go with either 1997 or newer. Any thoughts? Did the 1997 not have a leather seat option? It seems all the pics I've seen of them have cloth seats. I want leather, all power and I like the tan interiors.

A: I like the earlier NA models with the retractable headlamps (barn doors) better than the newer style. The 90-93 model Miata's had a 1.6L engine and the earlier 90-91 versions had a problem with the short nose crankshaft. I have a '92 with a limited slip differential and love it. 94 and up models have a 1.8L engine with more horsepower and there are a few more braces to make the car more rigid. While the 1.8L may have more power I personally think the 1.6L is more fun to drive like a real roadster. There are many special edition models that I like especially the 1999 10th anniversary edition which is one of the better looking models in my opinion. The new MX-5 is pretty sweet too if you have money for a brand new one. No matter which one you get you will love it. They all have their own personality and you instantly become friends with about 700,000 other miata drivers.

Q: How to tell the difference between a Mazda and Mitsubishi manual transmission in a 1992 Ford Ranger?
I know that most Rangers came with the Mazda transmission but I believe mine has the Mitsubishi made transmission because it does not look like all the ones I have found in the salvage yards. Mine is a 1992 Ranger 3.0L 5sp standard cab.

A: The tag data and the casting number should help you identify your transmission. Here is a site that will help you decode the information: http://www.drivetrain.com/tagtokitconvfordtrk.html

Q: How much to replace a windsheild on a mazda?
Does any know how much it cost to replace a windsheild on a mazda protege in the NJ/NY area?

A: $100 for your deductible if you have insurance.

Q: what's the difference between mazda tribute I and mazda tribute S?
hi, i just turned 16 and in a few months i'll be getting my license, i know i want a mazda tribute but what's the difference between the i and the s?

A: Fog lights come on either the I or the S line. But yes, the I is the 4 cyl and the S is the 6 cyl. I would recommend getting the 4 cyl FWD Touring or Grand Touring model.

Q: How do you tell the difference between a Mazda 3 and a Speed 3?
When the regular Mazda 3 is a hatchback, how do you set it apart from a Speed 3?

A: Bonnet is little bit higher but there's no scoop. Rear spoiler has two "spaces" between its own body and the fifth door while Mazda3 standard spoiler attaches to the fifth door across all its lenght. I'd say the spoiler is the most visually distinctive feature. - See the "holes" - its MPS. Check out the links to the both cars' galleries. Rear bumper is slightly different, as is the front one, wheels are bigger exhaust ending slighly larger. But these are not details you'd normaly notice when a car passes you by.

Q: How have people found the servicing costs of a mazda 3 beyond 80,000km?
My last two Mazda 3 services have been approx. $1000 each? The car is serviced every 10,000km by Mazda. Is this normal for a car that now has 90,000km on the clock? Interested to hear from anybody who has more kms on a Mazda 3 about how they have found the servicing costs beyond 100,000km.

A: It really depends on what they are doing when they service it! you should get a checklist of the services and 1 ask another mazda dealer 2 ask an independent japanese repairshop I assume you are in CANADA since you say dollars but use km. nonetheless, the US, i expect to change the oil every 7500 miles, pay about 300 dollars at 30k 60k and 90k miles to change all the fluids, brake, trans, engine coolant and oil, replace filters. timingbelt/waterpump at 90k extra $500 I would be surprised if you were pay $1000 for standard maintence unless you had the timing belt or full brake replacements at the same time. standard maintence is found in the owners manual but you could look it up at mazda.

Q: What kind of engine can I put in an 1987 mazda 323?
I currently have a 1987 mazda 323, of which I need to replace the engine. The engine that normally comes in a 1987 mazda 323 only produces 103 hp, and I am in need of more power than that, so I don't want to get the same type of engine it currently has. My question is: What kind of engine can I put in that 1987 mazda 323 that is able to produce more power than it currently has?

A: Hey man.im guessing you have a B6 engine?(1600 fuel injected)? What i am doing at the moment is i have a 1987 Ford Laser, similar to the 323 models but mine is a sedan.i had a 1300 carbd engine in and converted it to a 1600 dohc turbo(B6T).They have a good flow of power. They also released GT-X versions that are 1800 dohc Turbo.the pump out very good power but most of them came out 4WD.there are other models too that are BFMR or BFMP.all from Mazda.look up there specs and find out which is best for what you are looking for.. Hope this helps. They will all bolt into your car aswell.

Q: How to install a remote keyless entry system on a mazda 3 gx 2007 ?
Even if my car has power door locks, the guys at the Mazda dealer say they can't do it.They've tried it on another cas same as mine and it didn't work.

A: Strange! My 2007 Mazda3 had remote keyless entry as standard built into a key (folding key, looks something like this http://www.caradvice.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/tc-i30-fob.thumbnail.jpg). Now, my car was made for European market but it was made in the same Japan factory as all Mazda3s so I find it hard to believe that the locking systems would different. It's just some features may have been disabled. I had a rather sophisticated alarm and shock sensors fitted, it was all paired with factory engine immobilizer. Now I can lock and unlock my car either with a Mazda key or by a separate remote dong. It didn't affect my waranty, in fact, it was fitted by an independent company that is "endorsed" by my dealer. I had the same alarm fitted to my old 1998 Mazda 626 that didn't have remote keyless entry as standard and again it all worked. Same with my father's 2002 Mazda6 and his new 2007 Mazdaspeed6. This is what I had fitted http://www.jablotron.cz/en/car.php?pid=products/ca-320 It's remotely controlled alarm/keyless entry system. Some of Jablotron's products are also available in the USA, but I'm sure there must be similar products on the US market. Try an alarm specialist or similar company. If it works on my car it MUST work on yours too.

Q: How much should I expect to pay to get the exhaust system of a 2001 Mazda Protege replaced?
I've been told I need to get the exhaust system of my 2001 Mazda Protege. How should I expect to pay to get this done? Do I need to get Mazda parts? I don't think it is the muffler that needs replaced. I believe it is the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter. The parts the mechanic showed me were more towards the front of the car.

A: no you don't need Mazda parts you can use the cheaper alternative like napa auto zone it price of the job depends on the time and how hard it is for the old one to come apart and how easy the new one will be to install

Q: Is their a reason that Mazda does not offer factory built headers as a performance option?
I am aware of the issue with a catalytic converter, however, Mazda could offer a free flowing cat converter alongside the headers. For people who want this type performance. A factory install would make the car even more enjoyable. Would a header get in the way of something?

A: Some Mazda cars do have performance headers from the factory. The Miata I know does. There is a science to exhaust systems, to little back pressure kills the low end, to much kills the top end. Seeing that very few of us run at max RPM all day, Mazda (and other manufactures) tend to design for the lower RPM ranges. Take the Miata, it will turn over 7000 RPM, but some that drive these cars think they need to up-shift at about 5000 to stay in the torque band, so a bigger exhaust and less back pressure will only hurt the performance. So unless you want to rebuild the engine to live in excess of 6000 RPM constantly (with peak RPM's in excess of 9000) it is a waste of money, for either the factory or you. By the way I up shift at the point where the next gear where the engine will need to be turning 3500 RPM to maintain the speed at up shift.
