Q: Toyota Echo?

A: Id say under 40000 km's.

Q: How many MPG do you get from your Toyota Echo?
I want to calculate (approx) the cost of a trip cross part of the country in my 2001 Toyota Echo Standard Shift car, which is in excellent shape with only 27,000 miles on it. We would probably use air conditioning part of the way? Any Toyota experts out there?

A: it depends how heavy of a foot you got. i had a 2000 echo and the very best was 49 mpg. but with ac and normal weather with a little wind i would say about 42- 45 on average if you use good clean quality gas in your vehicle.

Q: What is the different between Toyota Echo & camry?
Looking to purchase a car, but want to know what is the different between Toyota Echo & camry? Which one is better? What are the different? Thanks

A: Toyota Echo is their economy little sub-compact. Really high gas mileage, fewer frills and not quite as nice, but also cheaper. It's a compact, or eco-box. Great for city commuting if you're single or married with no kids. Not a huge amount of room, but not horrible. Camry is Toyota flagship sedan. Much more luxurious and roomy and comfy, nicer and more respectable as well. Also a bigger engine, less gas mileage and costs more, but has a higher resale value (Toyota Echo was a horrible seller). Personally, if you can afford it, I recommend the Camry.

Q: Has anyone had trouble with rust in the fuel tank of a 2004 Toyota Echo?
My mother-in-law's 2004 Echo just had to have the fuel tank replaced due to it rusting through. Even though the car is under a 3 year warranty, the Toyota repairer still made her pay $440 to replace it. She was told it was due to "fuel contamination", she was also told this by someone at Toyota HQ at Sydney when she called them. Isn't that a very specific phrase to use? "Fuel contamination"? Have Toyota been told to say this is the case to avoid dozens of warranty claims for dodgy fuel tanks that should have been recalled in the first place? And why in two and a half years of driving this car with so-called "fuel contamination" has it not gone through to the engine and stopped it working, yet it has done enough damage over time to rust all the way through the tank? If anyone out there has had a similar problem and warranty issues, please respond, I really think Toyota have dropped the ball with this one.

A: There is another way to attack this problem. Toyota also states they have a rust through policy on their cars. Go in line and find a person or collage that teaches Metallurgy. They'll take a look at the old tank and possibly wright a conclusion as to why the tank rusted through. If I were at your Toyota when this happened they would have a mad American jumping straight down their throats! In the back of the manual you'll find phone numbers to talk to Toyota directly. Do this and plea your case. I have never herd of that crappy excuse of contaminated fuel being the culprit in my entire life. Gas tanks ALWAYS rust rust from the outside in usually do to water being trapped beneith the gas tank straps or cars that 20 - 30 years old.

Q: How can I remove/fix the stereo in my Toyota Echo?
Something is wrong with the wiring in my stereo in my Toyota Echo. I'm not very good with cars and I was wondering if there are any online tutorials or advice on removing my stereo. Thanks!

A: to remove ur stereo on ur echo.. its very easy...just follow these steps 1st... locate the 1st screw on the right air-duct of your dash.. if you look right in the middle of your center dash.. you should see two air-ducts .. look between that right side air-duct and the little holder compartment..there should be a black screw.. remove that! 2nd .. once you have remove that screw.. unplug the three knobs on ur center dash.. the 3 knobs. are the turning knobs u have for the fan... temperature.. etc.. just pull them off.. 3rd... now once you have remove those 3 plugs.. you should see two screws . * GOLD COLOR * .. remove both screws!! 4th .. you are almost done.. once you have those two screws removed.. simply pull off the entire center dash.. it should be holding with two clips.. just use a little force and pull it out!!! 5th... when u have the dash removed.,there should three 3 or 4 harness/plugs thats attach to your center dash.. i would unplug all of them to get it out of your way.. * gives u more room to remove stereo * 6th now.. you should be able to see the inside of ur dash.. unscrew the two screws on top of ur stereo frame... . theres also another 2 below the stereo.. try take out the ash-tray .. once all four screws are removes.. just unplug the radio harness and u r done..

Q: how do you change a fuel filter on a 2003 toyota echo?
is the fuel filter under the back seat and in the gastank in a 2003 toyota echo and how do you change it?

A: The only filter I can find listed is mounted on the tank module. Remove the rear seat and lift the cover on the floor. Remove the two fuel/vapor lines, the electrical connector and the 8mm bolts (8 of them??) Then lift the pump module up and out of the tank and take it out of the car through the rear door. Unless there is a problem, the filter should never have to be replaced. Hope this helps. God Bless!

Q: Where can I get a Toyota Echo?
I fell in love with the Echo by watching my favorite TV show "Psych." I really want an Echo, but I can't find one! I have looked at other similar looking models from different makes, but none of them compare to the Echo for me. I have looked on-line but can only find old models that are NOT cute. Toyota doesn't even have Echos on their website. What gives? Leggo my Echo!

A: Here in USA, the echo has been upgraded to the second generation, that is the Yaris Hatchback, so, you won't find a new echo, you can pursue an used one in any used car pages like Edmond's.com, (that is a good one). Personally I love the new Yaris Hatchback with 5 doors, comes with the 1.5 1NZ engine and is soooo nice inside.

Q: 2002 Toyota Echo Blue Warning Light In Gauge Cluster?
I recently purchased a used 2002 Toyota Echo (50,000 miles). When starting the vehicle intitally, a blue light comes on and stays on for a couple of minutes, then turns off. It looks the same as the temperature warning light. I do not have the manual for the vehicle, so I have no clue what the light's purpose is. Is it to let you know when the vehicle has warmed up? I really have no clue, any help would be appreciated.

A: It comes on to tell you that the engine hasn't fully warmed up yet. It isn't anything to be concerned about.

Q: cost to put in air conditioning in to toyota echo?
i bought a toyota echo back in 2002, at the time was looking just to have an economical good car....and it is a great car, but i didn't get it with A/C.....with the humid summers that we have in ontario canada i am thinking i should get A/C put in...do you knowif it can be done and what the cost would be? thank you very much~!

A: not worth the cost. easier to just buy another echo with AC.

Q: 2000 Toyota Echo hesitates on hard throttle after touching pos lead to negative terminal of battery?
Thought the intermittent radio function could be due to a build-up of static charge in the system. Therefore disconnected the positive lead and touched it to ground to release any charge on the system. Since then, when I give it gas quickly it almost seems to choke out. Never quite stalls, and still runs okay if I accelerate slowly, but didn't do this before. All I've done to the car is this static thing, and change the oil. Stopped in quickly to two dealerships: 1 Toyota tech figured I had completely reset the ECU and it had to re-learn all the timing etc. His solution was just to drive it, and it would eventually fix itself 2 Another tech figured I'd blown a fuse and put the car into limp mode. His solution was to find the fuse and replace. I've checked all the fuses, everything seems fine. Any help? The whole thing has just transpired yesterday. Car had previously ran quite well, and too cause-effect'ish to be a coincidence, nonetheless I will look at new fuel filters etc. There is no engine light on. What is the worst that could happen from grounding out the system like that? i.e. What havoc could I have wreaked, and could this all be fished out by reading the computer at a dealership?

A: I have seen fuses blow when a person reverse jumps the car, but with one of the cables disconnected there should not be enough current remaining anywhere to blow a fuse. That is not to say that it won’t cause havoc with electronics, but just not blow a fuse. I tend to agree with tech #1. When you touched the terminal, you effectively grounded any circuit in the car that is on at all times, including the battery back up for all ecus. HOPEFULLY all that did was drain the memory, but I have never seen it done before. How long ago was it? Is the Check Engine light on? If it is, go with the codes. If not, all I can recommend for now is to drive it. If it continues, someone will have to go through the diagnostic tree on the electronic throttle control system. Good luck! God Bless! 9/10 11:20 pm Well, it could have damaged the ECM which controls the ignition timing, injection, etc. The IAC could be involved, but its normal function is to go wide open when the throttle is opened, so it shouldn't make a difference. It could be in the fuel system, though, like you, I doubt it because of the relationship with the other. It is possible that someone could look at the data list and find the problem, but it won't be easy without a code to narrow the field, and the ECM could be reading one thing and doing another. Wish I could be of more help, but somethings I just have to have hands on to find.

Q: I adore the Toyota Echo, but there are virtually none available in my area. Similar car?
I currently drive a Dodge Dakota and CAN'T WAIT to get into a smaller, much more efficient vehicle. I fell in love with the Echo, but my hours of searching for one in my price range and in my area have turned up nothing. Is there another really cute car with good mileage, well-made, and cheap you would recommend? I don't really like the look of the Corolla, for example, and my budget is about $5K for a used car. Thanks!

A: 1. Toyota no longer makes the Echo. It did not sell well, and handled really badly & was very slow. 2. The car you want is a Honda Fit Sport or a Nissan Versa. Small sporty reliable safe. BUt you won't find one for $5K. Look for a used mazda3 or mazda protege.
